Archival Methods 24x30" 8-Ply Bright White 100% Cotton Museum Board, 5 Pack

A premium choice for the discerning artist, photographer, or archivist, the Museum Board 24x30 Bright White 8 Ply PKG 5 by Archival Methods is the epitome of preservation excellence. Crafted from 100% cotton fiber, this museum-quality board is designed to meet the highest archival standards, ensuring that your valuable prints, documents, and photographs are safeguarded for the long term. The Bright White hue of the board is not only aesthetically pleasing but also serves a practical purpose. It is a neutral tone that will not detract from the artwork it supports. The absence of acid and lignin in the board's composition is crucial, as these elements can cause deterioration over time. By incorporating alkaline or neutral sizing, and buffering with calcium carbonate, the board provides robust protection against acid migration and environmental pollutants that could otherwise lead to increased acidity and potential damage. At 8-Ply or 120 Pt. thickness, approximately 1/8 inch, this board offers substantial support and durability. The 100% cotton fiber pulp, consisting of 99% Alpha Cellulose, is free from optical brightening agents, ensuring that the board's color remains consistent under various lighting conditions. The meticulous manufacturing process excludes the use of metal particles, waxes, plasticizers, and residual bleach peroxide, while keeping sulfur and iron content to negligible levels. The board's alkaline sizing, both internal and external, is achieved without the use of alum, further contributing to its archival quality. With a 2-3% alkaline reserve and a pH of 9 +/-0.5, it is certified acid-free. This guarantees that the board will not degrade over time or cause harm to the art it houses.Passing the rigorous Photographic Activity Test (PAT) according to ISO IT 18916 standards, the Museum Board confirms its suitability for housing photographic works without causing any adverse reactions. The lignin content, a potential source of acid, is kept to a minimum, as evidenced by a Kappa number of less than five, ensuring long-term stability. Each sheet of this museum board is laminated with an all-natural starch adhesive, creating a cohesive and stable foundation for matting and mounting. The 8-Ply construction provides a significant 1/8" separation between your artwork and glazing, offering enhanced protection and a professional presentation. Whether for display or storage, this board is engineered to provide a flat, supportive backing that upholds the integrity of your work.In summary, the Museum Board 24x30 Bright White 8 Ply PKG 5 is an indispensable solution for anyone seeking to preserve their artwork with confidence. Its impeccable construction and adherence to archival standards make it a reliable and professional choice for a variety of applications.

Archival Methods Large Magazine Storage Kit with Metal Desiccant Canister

Archival Methods Large Magazine Storage Kit with Metal Desiccant Canister

Such optimal conditions can be readily achieved by storing papers in archival quality polyethylene bags and then storing the bagged papers in archival boxes. To enhance this double-level of protection the box then needs to be stored in a cool, dry environment such as a closet in an air-conditioned home. Avoid temperature and humidity extremes found in basements or attics - the rule of thumb is that if it is uncomfortable for you it will be uncomfortable for your stored newspapers.Archival Methods offer all-in-one kits to simplify newspaper and magazine storage. Do not "stress" newspapers by packing them tightly in the storage box. Instead pack them rather loosely. Application Newsprint, by its very nature, is a poor candidate for long term preservation. It is manufactured at the lowest possible cost and contains acid, lignin and other impurities that are not conductive to long life. Yet there are things you can do. If the newspaper is of important historical or personal value, consider contacting a paper conservator who can neutralize some of the harmful impurities. This can be costly if you are doing more than a handful of clippings but such "deacidification" can enhance newsprint life. More commonly, however, Archival Methods customers accept the fact that newspapers will yellow and get brittle over time and simply want to extend that time by properly storing their newspapers under optimal conditions.
