CG, or center of gravity, is almost entirely responsible for a wedge's flight dynamics, so Vokey engineers replicated the T grind's tour-preferred dynamics across the entire lineup. Now, unlike previous SM models, which had slightly different CG positions within the same loft due to differing sole widths and geometries, each SM11 produces the launch and flight demanded by the world's best. Next, the team locked in on enhancing spin, the second of Vokey's keys to successful wedge play. Thanks to manufacturing upgrades, Vokey engineers increased the SM11's groove volume by 5% compared to the SM10. The added volume prevents spin reduction caused by debris between the ball and the face, ensuring greater consistency and control, especially from the rough and in wet conditions. The SM11 also features a new directional face texture. By creating more friction and prolonging the time the ball is in contact with the face, the texture imparts more spin and reliable control on greenside shots.
